Therapy

Therapeutic Approach

The foundation of therapy is connection. I am here to support you in your therapeutic goals and shift and pivot based upon what you need most out of therapy. I am often grounded by an acceptance and commitment therapeutic approach which focuses on learning to accept the many emotions we feel, but not be controlled by them, and commit to living a life that aligns with our values. I am also grounded by a psychodynamic approach which addresses past situations, feelings, patterns and helps us understand why we might be feeling or acting the way we are in the present. In general, I use a variety of interventions to best support your needs and therapeutic goals. I work with individuals (16+) and couples.

I support clients with a variety of concerns including but definitely not limited to, relationships, anxiety, suicide ideation, depression, self-harm, self-esteem/self-image, stress management/coping skills, life transitions, grief, and trauma.

Couples Therapy

$220/Session

I support couples (heterosexual, same sex, and queer) and other romantic relationships (polyamorous and open relationships). I support couples in their relationship goals, developing communication skills and providing a safe space to be open and honest while prioritizing respect.

Individual Therapy

$200/Session

I work with teens and adults in individual therapy.

If finances are a concern I offer a sliding scale option subject to availability. If you are interested please inquire.

Free 15 Minute Consultation

I offer a free 15 minute phone or virtual consultation. You can ask any questions you have, get a sense of my style and explain what you're hoping to get out of therapy.

Education & Registration

Education

I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA) from York University and a Master of Counselling degree from City University (MC).

Registration & Governing Body

I am registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist (#P8075).

What is a Registered Provisional Psychologist?

This is a designation in Alberta that encompasses early career psychologists. This is not a practicum and I am not a student, as I have completed all necessary coursework which has been approved by the College of Alberta Psychologists. This is simply a way to support Psychologists in the earlier years of their practice. We have five years to complete 1600 hours under supervision and do two exams in this time before we become fully registered. I have completed all exams and I am currently completing my hours.

Are Registered Provisional Psychologists covered by insurance?

Yes! Most insurance plans should cover Registered Provisional Psychologists just like they cover Registered Psychologists. Always double check your coverage as all plans differ.

I want to acknowledge I practice on Treaty 6 and Treaty 7 territory, the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Dene, Nakota Sioux and the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuut'ina, Nation and Stoney Nakota First Nations, respectively. I want to acknowldege the many First Nations and Métis who took care of this land, and as I live, work, and support healing in this community I hope to also support healing and reconciliation by honouring this land, respecting it, and the many traditions of indigenous people.
