My Story
Hey! I'm Brooke,
I was raised in Red Deer, Alberta and currently reside here. I've always had an interest in psychology and knew I wanted to be a Psychologist in high school. I also had a passion for theatre and acting and writing. I decided to do the theatre program at Red Deer College (now Red Deer Polytechnic) with the idea I'd go back to school and pursue psychology. After I completed my diploma at RDC I moved to New Zealand for a year on a working holiday visa (mostly because I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan). I came home after an amazing year and went to York University in Toronto to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree (double majoring in playwriting and psychology).
Feeling very sure the big city was not the place for me I gladly moved back to Alberta and started working at the Outreach Centre (formerly Suicide Information and Education Services) where I did mental health programming in schools across Central Alberta focused on mental health and suicide prevention. I started my masters in counselling with City University as I worked at the Outreach Centre. I did my practicum at Social Shift and felt so sure that it was the place for me, and I never left.
I am currently a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists.
In my spare time I am very passionate about animals including dogs and horses. I have a quarter horse named Chat and two border collies named Indy and Strider. I spend many years competing in a ranching inspired sport called cutting. I love being outside and spending time with family and friends. My husband and I are huge geeks and enjoy cosplaying for comic cons. I also love to read, write and travel and do various crafts.
